Russian immunologists questioned possibility of re-infection with COVID-19

Russian immunologists doubted the possibility of re-infection with coronavirus. In their opinion, after a disease, a stable immunity is formed in the body. Scientists talked about this in an interview with the portal URA.ru.

So, according to the head of the laboratory of bionanotechnology, microbiology and virology, Novosibirsk State University Sergey Netesov , repeated infections are extremely rare. However, half of these patients have chronic problems with the immune system.

“This idea should be confirmed within a year or two. Last year there were a lot of suspicions of re-infection with coronavirus. However, laboratory methods proved only 20-30 cases out of almost 100 million registered patients,” he stressed. /

In addition, the head of the laboratory of the Ivanovsky Research Institute of Virology, professor Alexander Butenko I am sure that after suffering COVID-19, a stable lifelong immunity is formed: the same as after tick-borne encephalitis or yellow fever.

Earlier chapter Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova confirmed that re-infection is possible if the immune system is abnormal. She stressed that no more than 50 such cases have been identified worldwide.
