Russians have listed ways to protect against calls from scammers

Timur Aimaletdinov, an expert of the “Digital Citizen” project, listed to Russians the ways to protect them from calls from telephone scammers. The agency “Prime” writes about it.

The expert explained that usually scammers use two channels to collect phone numbers. The first is “merged” client bases from banks, payment services and online stores, the second is the so-called parsing (automatic collection of publicly available numbers). Having obtained a number in this way, scammers can compare it with other databases and obtain other personal information about a person.

To prevent fraudulent calls, the expert recommends using point blocking of numbers. However, this method may not work because attackers use IP telephony and often change numbers. Another way is to block all unknown numbers. However, because of this, the subscriber will not be able to receive other calls, for example, from couriers. Third, you can use applications that detect spam calls.

However, according to Aimaletdinov, the best way is vigilance. By understanding the described methods of scammers’ work, it is much easier to avoid psychological manipulations.

Previously, the expert Evgeny Druzhinin reminded Russians how to distinguish a bank employee from a fraudster. According to him, this can be done using key phrases in a telephone conversation. Thus, the operator of the credit institution will not ask for confidential data or transfer money to another account.
