Collapsed crematorium roof killed 20 Indians attending funeral

The roof of the crematorium collapsed on the heads of several dozen Indians who came to the funeral, reports The Times of India.

The incident occurred in the city of Muradnagar in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India during the rain. As noted, people crowded under the roof so as not to get wet. Most of them are relatives of the man who was cremated at that time.

As a result, 21 people died under the rubble. At the same time, NDTV notes that 22 people died, and at least 38 people were taken out of the wreckage alive. Some of them were taken to hospital.

The Chief Minister of the State of Yogi Adityanath said that for each person killed, relatives will be paid 200 thousand rupees (about $ 2,750). He also instructed local authorities to investigate the causes of the incident and prepare a report.
