CNN TV Indonesia reports citing the fishermen’s story about the explosions on board the crashed plane Boeing 737 en route from Jakarta to Pontianak.
Local fishermen claim to have heard the sounds of exploding bombs.
Earlier on Saturday it became known that dispatchers lost communication with Boeing 737-500 of Sriwijaya Air four minutes after the aircraft take off.
Later, the emergency services of Indonesia reported the discovery of aircraft wreckage off the coast of Jakarta.
59 people could be on board, including at least six children. According to other sources, there were 62 people on board.
The Boeing 737-500 has been in service for over 25 years, making its maiden flight in May 1994.
