Russian doctor listed contraindications for massage

Before sessions of therapeutic massage, it is imperative to consult with a specialist, as there are a number of restrictions for this procedure. Andrey Kabychkin, a Russian chiropractor, reflexologist, spoke about this in an interview with the radio Sputnik .

According to him, massage is contraindicated in inflammatory processes and respiratory diseases, such as influenza and SARS, as well as in skin diseases: boils, carbuncles and others. Massage is also contraindicated for patients with oncology. “You cannot massage patients who are diagnosed with chronic ischemic heart disease in the stage of decompensation, when a person takes a large amount of drugs that regulate the rhythm of heart contractions,” Kabychkin listed.

When performed professionally, therapeutic massage cannot cause side effects, but it can prolong health and youth. At the same time, as the doctor emphasized, one should be careful with mechanical massage gadgets, especially when it comes to the neck and collar area. Inappropriate massage of this area can lead to increased pressure and affect blood clotting.

Earlier, Kabychkin said that a special massage will help to recover faster after suffering a coronavirus, which is aimed at increasing oxygen levels in blood. The specialist emphasized that manual therapy should be combined with other treatments.
