Al-Qaeda leader was detained in a country popular with Russian tourists

It is known that the terrorist coordinated his actions with the leaders of the group located abroad and members of Katibat Uqba ibn Nafi in Tunisia to plan terrorist operations. Also, a man from abroad supplied the Tunisian branch of al-Qaeda with funds, weapons and ammunition.

As a result of a special operation, Tunisian law enforcement officers seized a Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammunition. In addition, they arrested members of a separate cell who provided logistical support to the terrorist.

In November 2020, al-Qaeda recognized the elimination of the leader in North Africa Abdelmalek Drukdal and appointed a new leader in the region. It was the Algerian Mujahid Yazid Mubarak, known as Abu Ubaydah Yusuf al-Anabi. He was included in the UN sanctions list against Al-Qaeda.

November 17 Tunisia opened borders for Russian tourists. Independent travelers arriving at the resort will have to provide a negative coronavirus test result, as well as undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine at their own expense with a stay at the observatory.
