Estimated change in ruble exchange rate at end of 2020

The ruble at the end of 2020 fell against the dollar by 16.7 percent. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing the assessment of the Moscow Exchange.

The exchange rate at the end of 2020 was 74.42 rubles, while at the end of 2019 it was 61.99 rubles. At the same time, in March it rose sharply by almost one third and reached 81.97 rubles.

In relation to the euro, the Russian currency fell by 24.1 percent. At the end of the year, the euro rate stood at 91.52 rubles. At the same time, at the end of last year, it amounted to 69.47 rubles. The annual peak was reached in November, when the euro rose to 94.14 rubles.

According to the results of the SuperJob service survey, the majority of Russians are ready for the fact that after the end of the New Year holidays, the dollar rate will rise to 81.77 rubles. Among the respondents, every fourth respondent monitors the dollar exchange rate, and every fifth respondent follows the euro.

Danish Investment Director Saxo Bank Steen Jacobsen expects that the dollar in 2021 will continue to weaken and fall to 65 rubles. In his opinion, the Russian currency will be strengthened by the growth of interest in raw materials in the world.
