Ukraine announced its readiness to sue Iran over downed Boeing

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba announced Kiev’s readiness to sue Iran due to the downed Boeing-737 in January, Channel 24 reports.

According to Kuleba, Tehran has not fulfilled its earlier promises. “We have not received, for example, a technical report on the disaster, and have not been able to progress in the negotiations,” the minister explained.

He added that any patience has a limit, so Ukraine can move to the trial phase if it realizes that all possibilities to resolve this issue have been exhausted.

In the process of negotiations with Iran, Ukraine does not act on its own. We are the leader of the team of the affected countries and we speak on their behalf. Therefore, this should be our common decision, – noted the head of MFA .

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevgeniy Yenin reported that Iran withdrew its offer to pay compensation to the families of those killed in the crash Boeing . The head of the Central Insurance of the Republic Gholamreza Soleimani explained that the plane is insured by European companies, therefore, it is they who must pay the compensation.

The Boeing-737 airliner of Ukraine International Airlines took off from Tehran to Kiev on January 8 and was shot down immediately after takeoff. All 167 passengers and nine crew members were killed: citizens of Ukraine, Iran, Canada and other countries. Iran admitted that the plane was shot down by the military.
