Turkey and United States set up a working group on S-400

Turkey and the United States have created a working group on the purchase of the first Russian S-400 air defense systems. The head of the Turkish MFA Mevlut Cavusoglu , quoted by Anadolu agency.

According to him, technical negotiations have already begun between Ankara and Washington. The working group will discuss, among other things, the US anti-Turkish sanctions.

They were introduced earlier in December against Turkish officials and institutions responsible for the purchase of the S-400. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Russian-made anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) endanger the US military. In NATO also we saw the threat to the aircraft of the alliance member countries in the Russian air defense systems.

Ankara paid with Moscow for the C-400 on December 7. The deliveries of the systems that caused the crisis in Turkey’s relations with the United States began in mid-July 2019. Washington demanded to abandon the deal and purchase American Patriot complexes in return, threatening to delay or even cancel the sale of the latest F-35 Lightning II fighters to Turkey. In total, Turkey was to receive more than 100 aircraft.
