Rusal became a member of JCLP climate partnership

The global vertically integrated aluminum and electricity producer En + Group announced that Rusal , a company in the metallurgical segment of the holding, became a member of the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership ( JCLP). This is stated in the message of “Rusal”.

The Metallurgical Holding has joined an organization whose main goals are to unite companies that promote decarbonization and sustainable development, as well as the promotion of carbon-free technologies. At the moment JCLP includes 163 other companies in addition to Rusal.

The goals of the En + Group metallurgical segment are fully in line with the partnership initiatives. The use of low-carbon aluminum in production is a priority for the development of the entire aluminum industry in Japan, especially in connection with the recent announcement by the country’s Prime Minister that he intends to end greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Membership of the metallurgical sector En + Group in JCLP confirms the high role of low-carbon aluminum for the global industry, as well as demonstrates the advantages of its use in construction, packaging, in the production of consumer goods and energy-efficient transport, noted in Rusal.

“The company fully supports the partnership and strives to contribute to the fight against climate change. Joining the JCLP is undoubtedly an important step for the development of the industry, reducing the carbon footprint of aluminum products, and preserving the environment in overall, “said Ayumi Murakami, director of Rusal’s sales office in Tokyo.” It is highly appreciated that the importance of low-carbon aluminum production has been re-recognized at such a high level. We hope that membership in the JCLP will help reduce the carbon footprint in Japan. “
