Doctors appreciate danger of a gift in form of cash for New Year

Doctors appreciated the danger of a gift in the form of cash for the New Year. The opinion of specialists is conveyed by RIA Novosti .

Epidemiologist Olga Nenastina recalled that any surface, including banknotes, are potential vehicles for the transmission of infections. “The good old cash in an envelope is no longer the safest New Year’s gift, because, passing through the hands of hundreds of thousands of people, it becomes a real breeding ground for germs,” she stressed.

Virologist Elena Malinnikova added that the coronavirus remains on banknotes if you sneeze on them. However, the amount of virus on any contaminated object will be greatly reduced if it is placed in a dry, well-ventilated, cold place for several hours. In general, the coronavirus on money or other objects does not linger for a long time and loses its properties over time, said infectious disease specialist Irina Shilkina.

It is safe enough to give cash, but it must be done following the rules, said the immunologist Vladislav Pearls . In particular, freezing temperatures will help get rid of the virus. “If the bills can be taken out on the balcony, pressed down with a pebble, and in the morning it will definitely be safe. The main thing is that the wind does not blow away,” he concluded.
