Ukraine begins rewriting textbooks for gender equality

In Ukraine, they began to rewrite school textbooks to achieve gender equality. Minister of Education and Science Sergei Shkarlet told Strana.ua about this.

According to him, Ukraine has joined the international initiative of equal rights and opportunities for all “Biarritz Partnership”. Within the framework of this program, the textbooks will be amended until 2024.

“Not only mother can wash the frame,” the minister said. At the same time, he clarified that his department did not set the task of replacing “mom” and “dad” with “parent 1” and “parent 2” or about gay marriage.

Speaking about his personal position on tolerizing attitudes towards LGBT people in textbooks and in the school curriculum, Shkarlet said that he considers himself a tolerant and tolerant person, but this issue is “difficult” for him.
