Car drove into a crowd in London

The car drove into a crowd of people in the Stoke Newington area in East London, five victims are known, reports the Express newspaper.

According to eyewitnesses, the car drove onto the sidewalk near the supermarket and crashed first into pedestrians, and then into a tree. Four victims were sent to the emergency room, one more was hospitalized.

Emergency services are working at the scene, an investigation is underway. According to preliminary data from the city police, the incident is not classified as a possible terrorist attack.

A previous similar case occurred in Germany: a man in the city of Trier ran into passers-by, as a result two people died, including a child. On the same day, it turned out that this was not intentional murder – a local resident lost control of the car.

Such cases are reported due to suspicions of terrorism. Car attacks are one of the popular techniques of Islamist terror: in recent years, there have been a number of similar attacks on residents of European cities. Many of them have installed concrete barriers to protect public spaces.
