Kravchuk explained rejection of Minsk agreements

Kiev is preparing to propose new steps to resolve the conflict in Donbass, but Ukraine “in no case” will abandon the Minsk agreements. This was stated by TASS the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk .

“In the new year, there will be more decisive and more concrete actions to achieve the main issue – the establishment of peace in Donbass,” he said, adding that these actions will include “an election law, an amnesty law, a law on the peculiarities of local self-government “, which also assumes the” Steinmeier formula “. According to him, all actions of the country will be based primarily “on the Normandy format,” and Ukraine “in no case” will abandon the Minsk agreements.

Ukraine will take new steps if it considers at the meeting on December 16 that everything is in place, and they want to deceive someone, said Kravchuk. “I think if we propose real steps, we will be understood, first of all in Ukraine and abroad, where they believe and know how to comply with international norms,” the head of the Ukrainian delegation explained.

He also recalled that the term that was set by the President of Ukraine expires, but there is no solution to the main issue – the establishment of peace in Donbass. However, Kravchuk noted that there are “concrete shifts” and cited as an example the document adopted on July 22 on a comprehensive regime of silence.

Earlier, Kravchuk said that the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine will approve the plan “B” to resolve the conflict in Donbass in early 2021. He clarified that he is personally taking part in the development of the plan, to which the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky a> promised if within a year it would not be possible to resolve the situation within Minsk agreements.

The Minsk agreements of 2015 provide for the implementation in Ukraine of a constitutional reform agreed with representatives of the DPR and LPR, the holding of local elections, as well as the granting of special status to certain regions of Donbass.
