Participants in riots due to coronavirus sentenced in Ukraine

In Ukraine, two participants in the riots in the village of Novi Sanzhary in the Poltava region were sentenced in February of this year due to the arrival at a local sanatorium of evacuees from China covered with coronavirus, according to hromadske.

Konstantin Bigdan and Mikhail Galaka made a deal with the investigation and were sentenced to 5 years with a probationary period of 1 year.

According to the investigation, Bigdan and Galaka threw stones and bricks at law enforcement officers , preventing the passage of buses with evacuees. Five security officials were injured.

A total of 10 suspects and eight criminal proceedings were reported.

Ukrainians evacuated from Chinese Wuhan were taken to the National Guard sanatorium near Poltava. Local residents tried to block the road, burned fires and erected barricades for fear of spreading the infection. In the Lviv and Ternopil regions, barricades were also built and checkpoints were organized against the placement of evacuated compatriots in local hospitals.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, 832 thousand infected with coronavirus have been identified. In recent weeks, from 10 to 16 thousand new infections have been recorded in the country every day.
