Hunter mistook lumberjack for a deer and shot him

The hunter mistook the man for a deer and shot him near Red Lake, a Nebish town in the US state of Minnesota, reports Fox News.

28-year-old lumberjack Lukas R. Dudley from Bemidji, Minnesota, went to hunt deer.

When dusk fell, another hunter heard rustling in the bushes, thought it was a deer, and started firing from his rifle. Dudley was mortally wounded.

Finding that he had shot a man, he immediately called rescuers, reported the incident to the police. The man cooperates with the investigation.

“Dudley was not wearing the typical fiery red or other conspicuous clothing. The deceased was taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy,” sheriff officials said.

Dudley is survived by a bride and three children. An obituary posted on the funeral home’s website notes that he enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoor recreation and cooking.

Earlier it was reported that in the Tyumen region one hunter mistook another for a wild boar and shot him. The bullet hit the victim in the chest and went through.
