A powerful explosion occurred on sun

On November 29, an explosion occurred on the Sun, which became the most powerful flare in the past three years. It was ranked fourth on a five-point scale and is second only to Class X flares in terms of energy output. This is reported on the website of the FIAN X-ray Astronomy Laboratory.

The explosion took place on the side of the Sun that is invisible from Earth, so there is a possibility that the power of the flare was much stronger than it follows from the readings of space X-ray detectors. The area covered by the explosion was so large that the upper part of the flare was visible from the left edge of the solar disk. Scientists do not exclude that the event actually belongs to the highest X class.

According to astronomers, the explosion will not have an impact on the Earth, since charged particles and plasma streams will pass hundreds of millions of kilometers from the planet. However, due to the rotation of the Sun, the center of the flare should be in the field of view of astronomers within a day, and in a few days it will be on the Sun-Earth line. So far, scientists cannot say for sure whether the flare activity will continue by then.
