Senior IRGC commander killed in Syria drone strike: intelligence

In the area of ​​the Al-Qaim border crossing on the Syrian-Iraqi border, one of the high-ranking officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, Muslim Shahdan, was killed by a drone strike, reports RT Arabic, citing sources in Iraqi intelligence.

According to the newspaper’s source, three of his bodyguards were killed along with Shahdan. At the same time, it is noted that information about the drone strike has not been confirmed at the moment. No other details of the officer’s death are given. Sources of Al-Mayadeen TV say that the information about Shahdan’s murder is untrue. There are no official comments on what happened.

Reports of the murder of an IRGC officer appeared after information about the death of a high-ranking nuclear scientist, one of the founders of Iran’s nuclear program, Muhsin Fakhrizadeh, who was killed near Tehran. Fakhrizade fell victim to a terrorist attack in the Absard settlement near the Iranian capital.

The Ministry of Defense of Iran also confirmed the death of Fakhrizade, calling him a martyr. “Unfortunately, the efforts of the doctors were unsuccessful” .
