US wedding ends with coronavirus outbreak and death of seven people

In the US state of Maine, a wedding ceremony took place, after which 177 people became infected with the coronavirus, 7 of them later died from complications. This was reported on Sunday, November 22, RIA Novosti with reference to the local center for control and disease prevention.

The event was held in a small town with a population of 4.5 thousand people. It clarifies that no infected were previously registered in it. There were 55 guests at the ceremony.

Five days after the celebration, the first positive tests for COVID-19 were registered. Two people who attended the wedding complained of sore throats, fever and coughing. Then three more guests reported similar symptoms.

The Center for Control and Prevention traced the contacts of infected people and found out that it was at this event that an outbreak of infection occurred. According to the results of the check, it turned out that the number of guests exceeded the limit, and that people did not wear masks and did not keep their distance.

Later, another 27 out of 55 guests were infected. In addition, the restaurant workers fell ill with COVID-19, and the infection began to actively spread throughout the city. The nursing home and the prison also identified people with a positive test. These establishments are said to be located 100 kilometers from the place where the wedding took place.

It is noted that among the deceased and hospitalized patients, there were no direct guests of the ceremony.
