Employees of law enforcement agencies in Minsk used special means against citizens “who violated public order “and resisted the police. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Olga Chemodanova.
The ministry explained that groups of protesters went out onto the road and blocked traffic. According to Chemodanova, citizens were repeatedly warned about the inadmissibility of disrupting public order. She also confirmed that special equipment was used against those who resisted the law enforcement officers.
Earlier it was reported that more than 80 were detained at Sunday’s protests in Belarus person. Most were detained in Minsk, several people in Borovlyany, Zaslavl and Novopolotsk.
In the area of Minsk’s Kamennaya Gorka, the security forces used special means to disperse citizens.
On November 22, the opposition urged its supporters to gather in courtyards, and then move to the district gathering points and march through the city together.
Protests in Belarus began at the end of August after the election of the head of state. The protesters demand the resignation of Alexander Lukashenko and the entire leadership of the country, new elections, as well as the termination violence by security officials and prosecution of those who violently dispersed the first post-election protests and tortured detainees.
