Russia proposed to introduce gamers to identify

The Commission of the Council of Legislators on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Investments invited the Government of the Russian Federation to oblige gamers to undergo identification through Russian systems. This was reported by the publication “Kommersant”, referring to the words of the head of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region Vladimir Kiselev.

It is planned to use Russian systems for identification of gamers – in particular, services such as Sberus ID and Yandex ID. At the same time, relevant requirements will be set for games.

The commission explains the need to introduce a new procedure to protect minor gamers from creating some “unsafe” gaming accounts. It is noted that many parliamentarians from various regions of the Russian Federation supported the initiative.

In addition, the official suggested forming a register of prohibited video games. This, according to Kiselev, should interfere with “manufacturers and distributors of computer games harmful to children.”
