The National Assembly rejected, Saturday, December 17, the censorship motion posted by the left alliance of the new popular and social ecological union (Nuts), automatically resulting in the final adoption of the draft budget of the State for 2023. The motion only collected 101 votes, far from the absolute majority of the 288 votes necessary to bring down the government.

This debate followed the decision of the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, to engage, Thursday, the responsibility of the government before the National Assembly by resorting to article 49.3 of the Constitution to adopt definitively and without vote the finance bill for 2023 , after the rejection of the text by the Senate at the majority of the right earlier in the same day. Saturday’s discussion marked the start of the parliamentary vacation: the next session will take place on January 9 in the National Assembly.
