The Ministry of Council excluded from its departmental digital transformation program (VPCT) to 2022-2024, the funds of 22 billion rubles, which were planned to be allocated for the development of the domestic Aurora OS.
Previously, this amount was supposed to be directed to the development of mobile services for Aurora and its adaptation to various devices, but the government decided that it was inappropriate. Instead, the authorities plan to launch a new mobile OS in Russia based on Android, and use Aurora on devices in the public sector.
The updated document – VPCT on 2023-2025 was published by the Ministry of Civil Academy of Sciences in December. The Ministry of Construction confirmed that the approved budget has not been provided for in financing of the Aurora OS: the project will develop at the expense of the developer – Rostelecom.
