Biologists and Social Security finds an agreement after three -month showdown

The compromise formalized on Wednesday provides a saving of 250 million euros spread over all of the medical biology exams.

Medical analysis laboratories and Social Security reached a savings agreement on Tuesday, January 10, ending three months of negotiations and pressures enamelled with strike movements. The compromise provides for a drop in financing of 250 million euros spread over all of the medical biology exams.

A new negotiation, for the period 2024-2026, will also have to be concluded before the 1 er September, reported health insurance and the Biologists’ union. The latter therefore called upon to end the laboratories and blocking the SARS-COV-2 screening tests on Wednesday.

The two parties finally found a compromise between the economies required since September by the government, which pointed out the high profits of the laboratories, and the sector which refused a lasting puncture.

Maladie has welcomed in a press release from this “agreement signed with all representatives of biologists”. The four unions representative of this liberal profession have indeed initialed this endorsement to their convention.

After several calls for non-transmission of the results of Coronavirus screening tests and the closure of laboratories, Social Security considers that “this return to the spirit of responsibility (…) must allow the immediate restoration of the Epidemiological vigilance and access to care for patients “. This wish will quickly be answered: the president of the Biologists’ union, François Blanchecotte, confirmed to the France-Presse agency that all of the current actions would be lifted “tomorrow” Wednesday, at midnight.
