Group MageCart profit from Canadian amateurs to drink

The Ontario (LCBO) alcoholic trading commission, which sells alcoholic beverages in retail, spoke about the cyber attack that occurred on January 10. According to LCBO, the cyberincime is a group of MageCart.

As the commission representatives say, the hackers hacked the LCBO website and introduced the malicious code on it, which was used to steal data from customer credit cards when placing an order. Therefore, the information of customers who paid for alcohol through the site from January 5, 2023 to January 10, 2023 could be compromised. The attackers fell into the hands of:

  • names;

  • email addresses;

  • Aeroplan;

  • passwords from accounts lcbo.com;

  • information on credit cards.

The commission noted that Cyberataka did not affect the users who made payments through the LCBO mobile application or the Vintagesshoponline website [.] Com.

IT specialists continue to investigate the attack in order to determine the injured customers and notify them of what happened. In addition, the site and the LCBO application are temporarily disconnected during the investigation.
