HIVE group raided Louisian’s hospital: in hands of attackers, data 269,752 patients

According to the press release of the Lake Charls Medical Complex, the Memorial (LCMHS), it all started on October 21, when the IB-command LCMHS discovered “unusual activity” in its computer network. Then an internal investigation was conducted, and after a few days it was found that hackers received unauthorized access to the hospital network, and then stole confidential files.

According to the representatives of the complex, the stolen files contained information about patients:

  • complete names;

  • physical addresses;

  • date of birth;

  • medical cards;

  • ID of patients;

  • Information on medical insurance and its payment;

  • Clinical information about the treatment of patients;

  • Social insurance numbers.

LCMHS emphasizes that hackers have not received access to an electronic medical record, and letters are already sent to all injured patients. In addition, it became known that the incident affected 269,752 people.

And although members of the Hive group claim that the incident occurred on October 25, LCMHS experts reported on the network on October 21. In addition, cyber -carriers added the hospital to the list of victims on November 15, 2022, which usually occurs after unsuccessful negotiations on the payment of redemption. In addition, on the site, attackers laid out supposedly stolen files. It is still unclear whether they are genuine.

LCMHS – the largest medical complex in the city of Lake Charles, Louisiana, which includes a hospital with 314 beds, a women’s hospital with 54 beds, a hospital hospital with 42 beds and a clinic of emergency care for undigested US citizens.
