FIN7 hackers exploit Veeam vulnerability to steal data

Fin7, a Russian cyber residency group, has been responsible for over 100 attacks on American companies and organizations between 2013 and 2018, according to a report by IB-Companies WithSecure. The hackers compromised thousands of different systems, stealing over 15 million payment cards and compromising more than 6,500 POS terminals. These stolen data were then sold in the darknet to third parties.

The FBI has identified several companies who were targets of Fin7’s attacks, including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Chili’s, Arby’s, Red Robin, and Jason’s Deli. These companies suffered significant financial losses as a result of the breaches.
