4Mlinux 42.0 released

4Mlinux 42.0, a minimalist user distribution that is not a branch from other projects and uses a graphic environment based on JWM, has been released. The distribution can be used not only as a Live-cropping to play multimedia files and solve user problems, but also as a recovery system after failures and platforms for launching LAMP servers (Linux, Apache, Mariadb, and PHP).

In the new version, updated versions of packages have been included such as Linux 6.1.10, Libreoffice 7.5.2, Abiword 3.0.5, Gimp 2.1.10.34, Gnumeric 1.1.12.55, Firefox 111.0, Chromium 106.0.5249.91, Thunderbird 102.8.0, Audacious 4.3. 3.0.18, SMPLAYER 22.7.0, Mesa 22.2.3, Wine 8.3, Apache httpd 2.4.56, Mariadb 10.6.12, PHP 8.1.17, Perl 5.36.0, Python 2.7.18, Python 3.10.8, Ruby 3.1 .3. The release also includes additional packages such as graphics editor Krita and the game HEX-A-HOP.

Improved support for various images, video, and sound formats has been implemented in this version. The basic supply includes multimedia players of ALSAPLAYER, BAKA MPLAYER, GNOME MPLAYER, GNOME MPV, and MP3Blaster. XMMS is the multimedia player by default.

The release comes in two ISO images: 1.2 GB, x86_64 with a graphic environment, and with a selection of programs for server systems.
