Researchers Fix Growth of Malicious Geacon Use on MacOS

There has been a recent increase in popularity of Geacon, a tool used by cybercriminals to target MacOS.

The tool allows attackers to create “beacons” or Beacons within the compromised networks and systems, which provides them with a command and control channel for remote control of the system. This then lets them collect information, move over the network, perform malware, and even install additional tools.

The thing that sets Geacon apart is that it is spelled in the language of Go, making it more effective and difficult to detect. This feature can be utilized by attackers to get around systems that detect and prevent intrusions with the help of encryption and other methods.
