Non -game characters will live forever thanks to AI and blockchain

Advanced technologies of artificial intelligence and blockchain are poised to revolutionize the world of video games. Co-founder of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, predicts that computer-controlled characters (NPC) will soon have the ability to “live forever” and exist in multiple game worlds. These advancements are expected to begin as early as 2024.

Siu highlights that developers are actively exploring ways to create a deeper and more realistic interaction between players and NPCs. This involves connecting characters to generative AI platforms which enable NPCs to respond to player actions and exhibit emotional reactions and facial expressions.

Leading technological companies are also joining the fray. NVIDIA, for instance, has developed a tool called ace, allowing NPCs to process natural language. Xbox, in collaboration with inworld ai, is focused on developing programs for creating dynamic plots and dialogues in games.

An intriguing experiment was conducted at Stanford University, where researchers observed the behavior of 25 agents in a virtual city. These agents organized parties and engaged in conversations, remarkably imitating human behavior.

Developers on the Web3 platform are utilizing the Ethereum ERC-6551 token standard to integrate AI into gaming processes. This enables players to autonomously program AI to perform routine tasks in games, such as collecting objects or executing repetitive actions.

These innovations foreshadow the emergence of a new video game genre, where interactions with artificial intelligence form the basis of gameplay. This promises to provide players with an entirely new level of immersion in the digital world.
