Russian Hackers’ Spouses Arrested on Italian Holiday

A married couple from St. Petersburg has been detained in Italy at the end of August following a request from France, who accuses the Russians of participating in hacker attacks, according to TASS.

While on vacation in Italy, the couple found themselves facing accusations from France regarding hacker attacks. At first, the Italian Court of Appeal denied an extradition request due to insufficient evidence and an ongoing investigation. However, with the replacement of the judicial commission and the submission of new materials from France, the request has now been granted. The decision on extradition is currently being challenged in the cassation court.

The couple has been placed in custody in Italy, and they vehemently deny all the accusations. They have refused to be transferred to France for the trial. In response, officials from the Russian Consulate General in Milan have already held a meeting with the arrested couple.
