Crisis Escalates: Million Unoccupied IT Jobs in Russia

The current deficit of IT specialists in Russia has exceeded 1 million people and is expected to continue increasing in the coming years, according to German Gref, the head of Sberbank. Despite efforts to expand reception programs at universities and establish new specialized educational institutions, the deficit in the field of digital technology is predicted to persist for 5-6 years.

Gref emphasized the significant role of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing the personnel shortage. He believes that AI can substitute the missing human resources in various sectors, leading to significant changes in the labor market within the next two to three years.

Earlier, Dmitry Chernyshenko evaluated the IT sector in Russia to consist of 800,000 specialists. In his congratulations on the Programmer’s Day, Chernyshenko highlighted the comprehensive support provided by the state to programmers and the favorable working conditions in Russia.
