New Cyber Attacks Discovered Targeting Linux and IoT Devices
Microsoft has recently discovered a new wave of cyber attacks that are aimed at Linux systems and a growing number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as those used in “smart homes”, vehicles, medical devices, and even smart clothing. The attacks are thought to be part of a Trojan campaign that has been targeting these systems in an attempt to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data and other information.
The Campaign has been using a version of the OpenSSH Trojan, which has been designed to take advantage of vulnerabilities in Linux systems and IoT devices. The Trojan has been working by logging keystrokes and capturing other data from the infected systems, which is then transmitted back to the attacker’s command and control servers.
Microsoft has warned users to take extra precautions with their IoT devices and Linux-based systems, urging them to keep their software up to date and to be wary of any suspicious activity on their networks. They also recommend using strong passwords and other security measures to protect against these types of attacks, which are becoming increasingly common in today’s connected world.
