RN is trying to gap between consumers and farmers

By appearing with Michel-Edouard Leclerc, the vice-president of the National Assembly and deputy of the National Rally Sébastien Chenu scrambled the image of a party traditionally hostile to mass distribution. Christiane Lambert, perched on a coffee table, silenced a few heckling starting an aperitif, and broods with the fifteen deputies who face her, Wednesday 1 er Mars, at the International Salon of International agriculture, in Paris. The president of the National Federation of Farmers’ Unions (FNSEA) has sweet words in the mouth: lately, parliamentarians have served the king’s union of the chambers of agriculture. She congratulates some deputies, from left to right, smiles for the photo with clusters of elected officials from all stripes. Grégoire de Fournas, deputy for the National Rally (RN) and winegrower in the Médoc, will not approach.

In January, another photo damaged the relationship between the RN and the FNSEA: that of Sébastien Chenu, Vice-President RN of the National Assembly, all smile with Michel-Edouard Leclerc, the favorite boss of the French, and hated agricultural unions, which criticize him for strangling the profession. The meeting intervened at a key moment: examining a bill on relations between distributors and suppliers, an extension of the law called Egalim 2. Very supported by the industrial lobby and all agricultural unions, the A bill extends the resale threshold at a loss, the supervision of promotions and rebalances commercial negotiations between large distribution and suppliers. All winter, Michel-Edouard Leclerc alerted, in the media, against the risk of inflation that would result from the text. And looked for political allies in opposition, meeting rebellious France and the RN. Mixed success: The two groups abstained on the bill, approved by all the other benches.

When we talk to him about agriculture, Sébastien Chenu, deputy of the North, speaks “transmission of agricultural, digital and international issues”, then relays the speech of Michel-Edouard Leclerc: “No distributor does will be able to bear increases of 10 % on the products! What interests me is what remains as room for maneuver for consumers. “He does not say” neither ally nor enemy “of the president of the strategic committee of the strategic committee of Leclerc centers.

“They were fooled by Leclerc”

The Chenu-Leclerc photo was “very badly” perceived by the agricultural world, assures Christiane Lambert to the world. “They were fooled by Leclerc, who was looking for allies at all costs.” She must meet, Friday March 3, Jordan Bardella, the president of the Lepéniste movement, who plans to spend two days at the Agriculture Fair after Marine Le Pen, victim of a domestic accident, had to give up the crowd. The FNSEA continues to court the RN before the future joint joint committee likely to limit the impact of the text. The bottom of the air is fresh: food inflation restores weight to large retailers, requested by the government to contain the increase.
