Pension reform: discreet opposition of national rally

For the extreme right, absent from mobilizations, the referendum motion, which aims to submit the text to referendum, is the perfect opportunity to embody the opposition to the government project.

A chance in the draw to get back into the game. The National Rally (RN) finally found the opportunity to embody an opposition to the pension reform by seeing its referendum motion drawn in the National Assembly, to the detriment of that of the left. It is his request for a referendum which will be studied, Monday, February 6, and defended by the deputy of North Sébastien Chenu.

The scene is already written: the new Ecological and Social People’s Popular Union (Nuts) will not vote, in principle; The RN will cry out for the betrayal of the left electorate, will have fun with the appeal to the vote in favor of Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential election. And the extreme right will be fine to claim the role of only opponent of the pension reform, since the left lets spin an opportunity to put a stop on the text.

Jordan Bardella, the president of the party, admits it in half-word: the RN struggles to embody adversity to the text. “There is a ping-pong between the government and the clip, installed by the first which can thus play the party of the Order. The government has an interest in choosing the clip as the spearhead of the opposition, because it is A scarecrow, and the left does everything to embody it, because it is the only subject on which it is audible. “

Faced with this duel, the RN has not, for the time being, found a strategy. Does he look for one? “They do not go up on pensions because they have a liberal economic policy: since the start of the legislature, they have defended the reduction in taxes,” said Cyrielle Chatelain, the president of the environmental group at the Palais-Bourbon. In fact, part of the RN amendments to this pension reform are the classic right register, with exemption from employer contributions. Others consist in defending the special regimes of trades in tension, such as RATP, or their electoral customers, such as police or soldiers.

perfume of improvisation

of 75 amendments deposited before the passage of the text in committee, the number increased to 214 for the hemicycle. Within the group, some had considered that less than an amendment by deputy, when one claims to concentrate his forces on the battle in the assembly, that was not very serious. The party justifies this strategy by the constrained time of examination of the text, and the need to go up to a vote.

He floats an improvisation scent in the lepenist camp on this pension reform, even in this referendum motion, drawn by Marine Le Pen on the return from a trip to Senegal which coincided with the start of social mobilization. His party, concentrated on his “notabilization” in the National Assembly, has excessive efforts. “Basically, the question is not who wins, but who will be the receptacle of anger born of this reform,” said Renaud Labaye, secretary general of the RN group in the National Assembly. Marine Le Pen’s advisor does not think that a government decline would be put to credit for the parties present in the demonstrations, namely the left.
