Robert Dawes, an international drug trafficker, purges a final conviction of twenty-two years’ imprisonment for the import of 1.3 tonnes of cocaine. In the case which has earned him to appear, since Monday, January 23 before the criminal court, for “false in public writing” and “attempt to swindle judgment”, he faces a new sentence of ten years of imprisonment. It is also expected in the Netherlands to respond to an accusation of murder. In the box in the courtroom, four hooded and armed men epitic the slightest movement of this particularly monitored detainee (DPS).

Xavier Nogueras and Joseph Cohen-Sabban were his lawyers, they are his co-convenience. They are criticized for having violated the secret of the investigation and for having been accomplices of the attempted scam at the judgment, producing the Assize Court of the defense of their client, who have been revealed before falsified. From their headquarters in the courtroom, they salute their colleagues from the Paris bar who take turns every day to support them.

Of these three defendants, outlaws and lawyers, the least free is not the one we believe. Robert Dawes has nothing to lose and he dares everything. In summary, he argues, he is the only victim of this affair. “Without these false documents, I was almost sure to be acquitted. Instead, I was heavily condemned!”, He proclaims. In turn accusing, protector, sly, he distills veiled threats and indulgences. Against evidence, he exempts from all responsibility the fourth defendant of this affair, his henchman Evan Hugues, absent from the hearing, while the investigation demonstrates the essential role played by this ubiquitous advisor in the falsification of the documents of file and their transmission to lawyers.

The voluble “Drug Lord” shows, however, singularly contemptuous for his two ex-avocats. “Laurel and Hardy”, who “were strawberries and are still”. “I can’t believe I am there. I took twenty-two years, they were sleeping instead of working on my file. With each visit to the parlor [of his lawyers], we mentioned my defense . I had an ultrasolid defense. But they listened with a distracted ear. At no time, we are talking about these pieces! “Robert Dawes blows warm:” It’s impossible to imagine that my lawyers were aware [of this falsification] ” – and the cold:” It is inconceivable that it was necessary to wait for the trial that they wonder about the origin of these documents! They had had them for six weeks! “
