Experimental release of an open implementation of the Win32 API – Wine 11.8 has been published. Following the release of Wine 11.7, 22 bug reports have been closed and 239 changes have been made.
The most important changes include:
- Engine Wine Mono has been updated to release 11.1.0.
- Improved support for keyboard layouts using the libxkbregistry library.
- Continued work on the implementation of the msxml library (Microsoft XML Core Services) that does not use libxml2.
- Improved compatibility with VBScript.
- Closed error reports related to the operation of various applications and games.
Simultaneously, a release of Wine Staging 11.8 has been formed, providing extended Wine builds that include incomplete or risky patches not yet suitable for adoption into the main Wine branch. This release contains 281 additional patches and synchronizes with the Wine 11.8 codebase.
Patches that add missing signatures to the D3D9 implementation for determining pointers to vtables have been moved to the main Wine from Wine Staging.
Furthermore, Proton-CachyOS 11, an edition of the Windows application launcher package Proton developed by the CachyOS distribution developers, has been released
