After more than a year of development, the release of the package GNU Autoconf 2.73 has been published. This package comes with a set of M4 macros designed for creating autoconfiguration scripts for building applications in various Unix-like systems. By using a prepared template, the package generates a “configure” script. The new version, Autoconf 2.73, mainly focuses on enhancing support for GNU Gettext and the C language standard C23, which is set to be published in 2024. Specifically, the update improves compatibility with compilers that will utilize this standard by default.
