Oracle Unveils Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 8.2

Oracle introduced the release of Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 8.2 (UEK 8.2), a variant of the Linux kernel developed for use in the Oracle Linux distribution as an alternative to the standard package with the kernel from Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The kernel is available for x86_64 and ARM64 (aarch64) architectures. The kernel source code, including the breakdown of individual patches, has been published in the Oracle public Git repository.

The Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 8 branch is based on the Linux 6.12 kernel, which has been updated with new features, optimizations, and fixes. It has also been tested for compatibility with most applications running on RHEL and optimized for working with industrial software and Oracle hardware. Installation and src packages with the UEK 8.2 kernel are prepared for the Oracle Linux 9 and Oracle Linux 10 distribution branches. There are no obstacles to using this kernel in similar versions of RHEL, CentOS, Alma Linux, and Rocky Linux.

Among the changes in the UEK 8.2 kernel are:
