Wayland-Protocols 1.48 Released

Introduced release of the package wayland-protocols 1.48, containing a set of protocols and extensions that complement the basic Wayland protocol and provide the necessary capabilities for building composite servers and user environments. This release marks an important update in the world of Wayland protocol development.

In the new version, several enhancements and additions have been made:

  • The xdg-session-management protocol has been added to the “staging” category, offering the ability to restore the state and position of windows in an interrupted session within Wayland protocol-based environments, such as after a composite server or application crashes.
  • The capabilities of the text-input protocol have been expanded, enabling composite servers to implement input methods and send text to applications. New features include the addition of the no_emoji flag for input without Emoji, support for additional actions besides pasting text, language flag to convey language information, queries for showing and hiding the input panel, and preedit_hint flag to configure pre-edit style.
  • An experimental protocol xx-cutouts has been added to provide information about cutouts on the screen, such as the area for the front camera on a smartphone screen.
