SuperTux 0.7.0, a classic platform game inspired by Super Mario, has finally been released after over four years of development. The game, distributed under the GPLv3 license, is now available for Linux (AppImage, Flatpak), Android, Windows, and macOS. More information about the release can be found here.
Some of the key changes and updates in this new release include:
- Introduction of new sprites and features like sliding down slopes, crawling, jumping on the butt, and rolling stones.
- Redesigned graphics for backgrounds, objects, and enemies.
- Complete redesign of levels in Story Mode, Revenge in Redmond, and Bonus Island I.
- Addition of new non-player characters and enemies, as well as reworking existing enemies.
- Inclusion of new music and a redesigned level editor.
- Integration of a local multiplayer mode and new gameplay elements like sparkling enemies, keys, and item pockets.
- Refactoring of code and switching to the Squirrel scripting language for the SimpleSquirrel binding.
- Restoration of Android platform support and addition of packages in Flatpak format.
