Arduino Unveils Single-Board Computer VENTUNO Q

The Arduino project, which was acquired by Qualcomm last year, announced a single board computer VENTUNO Q, combining the STM32H5F5 microcontroller and Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ8 microprocessor with built-in GPU and AI accelerator in one device. The main purpose of the board is to create autonomous AI devices capable of solving computer vision problems and separately executing machine learning models.

Examples of application of VENTUNO Q include the creation of robots, smart kiosks, traffic flow analyzers, assistants for health monitoring, and quality control systems in enterprises. By connecting a monitor, keyboard and mouse, the board can be used as a developer workstation that supports running the Arduino App Lab. The device is compatible with expansion boards and add-ons already available for Arduino UNO boards. The sales date and price of VENTUNO Q have not yet been announced.

The Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ8 (IQ-8275) microprocessor includes an 8-core Arm Cortex CPU, an Arm Cortex A623 GPU (877 MHz), a Qualcomm Spectra 692 image processing processor (ISP) and a Hexagon Tensor AI NPU with a claimed performance of 40 trillion operations per second. The system is equipped with 16 GB of RAM and 64 GB eMMC storage. To expand permanent memory, an M.2 connector is available for NVME Gen.4 drives. Support for running Ubuntu and Debian is declared.

The STM32H5F5 microcontroller includes an Arm Cortex M33 250MHz core, 4 MB Flash and 1.5 MB RAM. Running RTOS Zephyr is supported, and is fully compatible with the ROS 2 (Robot Operating System 2) operating system and the Arduino App Lab tools. To connect peripheral devices, sensors and stepper motors, GPIO, PWM and CAN-FD interfaces are provided.

In addition, the board is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 2.4/5/6 GHz, Bluetooth 5.3, 2.5Gbit Ethernet (RJ45), HDMI for connecting a monitor, MIPI DSI for connecting touch screens and interactive panels, three MIPI CSI connectors for cameras, USB-C with support for connecting a monitor and camera, two USB 3.0 Type A, two
