The recently released T2 SDE 26.3 provides a platform for creating custom distributions, cross-compiling, and maintaining package versions up to date. Notable distributions like Puppy Linux are built on the T2 system. The project offers 10 pre-built bootable iso images with a KDE-based graphical environment for various architectures such as arm64, ia64, ppc64, ppc64le, riscv64, riscv64 rva23, i686, and x86-64. While the primary focus is on building Linux kernel-based distributions, the project is also working on prototypes to support other operating systems like macOS, Haiku, and BSD systems. Future plans include creating environments based on different kernels such as L4, Fuchsia, and RedoxOS, as well as assemblies based on Android (AOSP). With over 7,000 available packages for building, T2 supports 20 hardware architectures, ranging from modern embedded systems to legacy hardware like Nintendo Wii U and Sony PS3 game consoles. The latest version of T2 SDE introduces several changes, including fully reproducible assemblies with the KDE Plasma desktop environment using Wayland, cross-compilation support for Qt6 and KDE components, and the restoration of 2D acceleration support for older video cards in the X server. More than 7,300 packages have been updated, featuring enhancements to essential tools like GCC 15.2, LLVM/Clang 22.1, Linux kernel 6.19.5, Mesa 26.0.1, Glibc 2.43, Musl 1.2.5, and uClibC 1.0.56. Additionally, the new version includes the default activation of the systemd system manager, support for live mode testing and graphical installation during boot, and the implementation of parallel package assembly capabilities. |
