European Open Source Academy Awards Greg Kroah-Hartman Excellence in Open Source 2026 Award
The European Open Source Academy (EOSA, European Open Source Academy) honored Greg Kroah-Hartman (Greg Kroah-Hartman) with the Excellence in Open Source 2026 Award for his remarkable contributions to open source software development. Greg is renowned for maintaining the stable and staging branches of the Linux kernel, supervising 16 kernel subsystems, such as USB, TTY, and Driver core, and founding projects like openSUSE Tumbleweed, udev, and the Linux driver project. He currently resides in the Netherlands.
The award ceremony, as reported by Daniel Stenberg, President of the European Open Source Academy, who is recognized for creating the curl utility and contributing to the IETF working groups that develop HTTP and QUIC protocols.


Aside from the main award, the EOSA also recognized exceptional contributions in four specific categories, presenting Special Recognitions to the following participants:
