LineageOS 23.2 Released

LineageOS 23.2 has been released, continuing the development of the mobile platform based on Android 16. The 23.2 branch has achieved parity with the 23.0 branch in terms of functionality and stability, marking it as ready for development release. Builds are available for 148 device models. LineageOS can also run in the Android Emulator, QEMU, and Android Studio, with the ability to build in Android TV and Android Automotive mode.

The release of LineageOS 23.2 is significant for its synchronization with the current code base from the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) repository, corresponding to the second quarterly update of the Android 16 platform (QPR2). LineageOS 23.1 has been skipped due to AOSP moving to semi-annual updates, resulting in LineageOS releasing intermediate versions twice a year.

Functional changes in LineageOS 23.2 include a new design and color scheme aligned with the Material Expressive 3 concept introduced in Android 16. Applications have been updated and switched to the Material Expressive design concept where possible, including the music player Twelve, Deskclock, and ExactCalculator.

The drop-down panel interface with quick settings has been updated, allowing full customization of tiles. An optional advanced dark theme is now available in addition to the basic theme. Utility functions for working with files have been expanded, with new tools for firmware developers to extract RRO, update app certificates, and extract SELinux rules from system images.

A significant overhaul of the firmware update management program, Updater, has been implemented. The interface has been completely redesigned, updates management has been enhanced, and progress operation animations were added. The new version of Updater, while not included in LineageOS 23.2, will be introduced after achieving the required stability level.
