ChaosBSD: FreeBSD Fork for Driver Testing

The ChaosBSD project is dedicated to developing a periodically synchronized fork of FreeBSD with the purpose of testing drivers before their integration into the main FreeBSD composition. This project serves as a platform for the development and porting of new drivers, as well as for testing, stabilizing, and validating partially functional, unstable, and incomplete drivers that are not yet ready for inclusion in the main FreeBSD composition. Once these drivers are stabilized, they will be ported to FreeBSD for broader use.

The advancement of drivers in the ChaosBSD project occurs in four stages: achieving buildability, resolving errors and stabilization, performing clean-up and documentation creation, and finally, integration into the main FreeBSD structure. It is important to note that ChaosBSD is primarily a testing platform and does not guarantee the preservation of change history and commits. The repository is periodically reset, synchronized with the FreeBSD codebase, and brought back to a stable state.
