The release of a specialized distribution Tails 7.4 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been presented, developed as part of the Tor project. The distribution is based on the Debian 13 package base, comes with the GNOME 48 desktop and is designed for anonymous Internet access using the Tor toolkit. All connections other than traffic through the Tor network are blocked by the packet filter by default. Encryption is applied when saving user data between runs. An iso image has been prepared for downloading, capable of working in Live mode, 2 GB in size.
In the new version:
- The feature has been implemented saving language settings, keyboard layout and formats on a USB drive, with them automatically set after a restart.
- Updated versions of Tor Browser 15.0.4, Thunderbird 140.6.0 and Linux kernel 6.12.63.
- For security reasons, the provision of torrent files for downloading the distribution via BitTorrent has been discontinued. It is recommended to download the distribution directly from the official project mirrors.
