ArchBang, a lightweight Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, has recently introduced a new release called ArchBang 1001. This distribution features a user interface based on the Labwc composite manager and offers a continuous update cycle to ensure users always have the latest versions of programs from the Arch Linux repositories. The iso image for ArchBang 1001 is 1.4 GB in size.
The latest version of ArchBang includes a transition to the Labwc composite manager, which uses the Wayland protocol and is similar in capabilities to the window manager Openbox that was previously used in ArchBang. The dmenu application menu has been replaced with wmenu, which supports Wayland. Additionally, XWayland is included to run X11 applications. Other changes in this release include switching the installer to full-screen mode, adding a network connection setup applet using NetworkManager, and reworking the theme for a fresh look.
