The developers of the Gentoo Linux distribution published a report reviewing the main events and financial indicators for 2025. Achievements noted include:
- The Gentoo Foundation’s fiscal year 2025 revenue was $12,066, of which 80% came from individual donations. An additional $8,471 in individual donations was received through the SPI organization. For comparison, in 2024 the project received $20,800, which is $263 more than in 2025. Costs amounted to $21,036 (a year ago $21,200), of which $8,332 was spent on hosting and other services, $1,724 on administrative expenses and accounting, $905 on fundraising (fundraising) and $10,075 on depreciation expenses. Bank balance: $104,831 (year ago $105,000).
- The transfer of asset management, legal issues, and donation collection to the SPI (Software in the Public Interest) organization has continued.
- Introduced to main repository for 2025 included 112,927 changes, which is 9% less than in 2024 (123,942). The number of third-party commits fell by 27%, from 12,812 to 9,396. The number of unique third-party contributors fell by 10.5%, from 421 to 377.
- The user-maintained repository GURU has 5,813 changes from 264 contributors. In 2024, there were 7,517 changes from 241 contributors.
- 20,763 reports were added to the bug tracking system during the year. During the year, 22,395 problems were solved (in 2024 there were 26,123 reports and 25,946 solved problems, in 2023 – 24,795 reports and 22,779 solved problems).
