Blender 5.0: Free 3D Modeling System Released

The Blender Foundation has recently announced the release of Blender 5.0, a free 3D modeling package that caters to various tasks involving 3D modeling, graphics, game development, simulation, rendering, compositing, motion tracking, sculpting, animation creation, and video editing. The software is distributed under the GPL license, and ready-made builds are available for Linux, Windows, and macOS. Additionally, the Foundation continues to provide support for LTS branches of Blender 4.2 and 4.5, with updates scheduled until July 2026 and 2027, respectively.

Some of the improvements included in Blender 5.0 are:

  • Introduced a new implementation of the color management system, featuring integrated support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Spaces coverage, such as Wide-gamut RGB color space.
